Malaysian Beef

  • 1 Tablespoon sesame seed oil
  • 3 Beef steaks, sirloin or fillet steak sliced
  • 2 Cloves of garlic finely chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon for fresh ginger finely chopped
  • 4 Shallots finely chopped
  • 2 Lemongrass stalks, insides finely chopped
  • 1 Desert spoon of palm sugar or honey
  • 2 Tablespoons Mirin rice wine
  • 1 Tablespoon black bean sauce
  • 1 Desert spoon ketchup manis
  • 1 Tablespoon soya sauce
  • 1 Tin of water chestnuts chopped
  • 8 Spring onions chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon chopped honey roast cashew nuts.
  • Put the sesame seed oil in a frying pan and gently fry the chillies, shallots, lemon grass, garlic and ginger.
  • Add the beef and fry for a further few minutes until the beef is seared.
  • Add the palm sugar or honey, the Mirin, black bean sauce and ketchup manis. Fry for a further few minutes,
  • Add half the spring onions and water chestnuts.
  • Serve garnished with the rest of the spring onions and the chopped honey roast cashew nuts.
