Pears pickled

  • 5 Firm pears
  • 300g Caster sugar
  • 300g Red wine vinegar
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 5 Cloves
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • Put all the ingredients EXCEPT the pears into a large saucepan, bring to the boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Peel the pears, core and slice. Add the sliced pears to the pan and cook for a further 5 minutes.
  • Leave to cool then store in clean sterilised kiln jars in the fridge.
